Experience
Washington University in St. Louis Environmental Nanochemistry Laboratory Summer 2017
- Measured settling of Cerium Oxide in the presence of Manganese (II) through photospectrometry.
- Measured surface characteristics of Cerium Oxide under various conditions.
- Performed various analysis including Optical Density, Total Solids, Volatile Solids, Chemical Oxygen Demand, pH, Conductivity, Oxidation/Reduction Potential, and alkalinity.
- Prepared and operated in biological sterile environment in order to inoculate media with algae and prevent bacterial contamination.
- Monitored algae until it reached top of population growth curve and condensed the media and algae to just algae paste.
- Chemical separated lipids from algae paste.
- Monitored gas production from bacterial decomposition of algae waste
- Nuclear Plant Technician (Machinist Mate), USS Topeka
- Qualified Engine Room Supervisor, Shutdown Roving Watch, secondary plant chemistry, and various other nuclear watch stations onboard the USS Topeka.
- As Engine Room Supervisor/ Shutdown Roving Watch I was responsible for the operation and safety of the entire engine room both at-sea and in port.
- Responsible for primary maintenance scheduling and bookkeeping, heat exchanger health, and material history.
- Assisted in several reactor safety maintenance evolution, some performed as infrequently as once a decade.
- Proficient in all plant, reactor, and radiological control casualty actions.
- Skilled in use of schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and test equipment to isolate and diagnose faults in the various systems.
- Performed/supervised corrective and preventative maintenance actions and testing of propulsion plant systems during both shipyard overhaul and operational conditions.
- Routinely operated and maintained: Evaporator (water purification plant), R-114 refrigeration unit, High-pressure air compressor and moisture separators (HPAC/HPAD).
